Our HVAC replacement service starts with an assessment of your home, equipment, and comfort needs:
We review condition, repair history, and expected costs.
We assess each space that needs heating and cooling.
We calculate the capacity your home requires.
We inspect ducts, airflow, drainage, refrigerant lines, and other relevant infrastructure.
We verify whether the existing electrical system can support the proposed equipment. If upgrades are needed, we quote them separately.
We help you balance comfort, efficiency, features, and budget.
A complete HVAC replacement in San Francisco follows a clear process, from the first assessment to the final system check.
We inspect your existing equipment, comfort concerns, and home to determine whether replacement is the right option.
We review sizing, ductwork, airflow, electrical capacity, and applicable permit requirements.
We explain the options that fit your home, comfort goals, and budget.
You receive a clear written estimate outlining equipment, installation work, and project timeline.
Our team removes the old equipment and installs your new one.
We test the system, confirm proper operation, and show you how to use and maintain it.
A thorough estimate for a residential HVAC replacement should show the full cost of the job—not just the equipment.
Your estimate should include:
Your estimate may also include ductwork, electrical work, a new thermostat, warranty details, and other materials needed for the job. Every home is different.
At NEON, we provide a clear written estimate so you know what is included, what it costs, and what to expect before work begins.

Our experience with Freon HVAC has been exceptional for a full panel upgrade to 200 amps and installation of a new Mitsubishi mini-split system in an old house. We took quotes from 4 different top rated hvac providers in the San Jose area, before deciding to go with Freon. I appreciated the honesty and detailed analysis of our needs by Slava when he first showed up to do an estimate. He asked a ton of questions, checked the house for existing setup, wiring, possibilities, and discussed multiple possibilities including ducted, gas, hybrid, and heat pump only. Once we decided to go with a specific type of configuration, he gave us multiple options. Their pricing was competitive and while it took forever for PGE to get to the wiring/transformer upgrade, Freon's team worked with them patiently to meet our needs. Special thanks to Jessica for regular follow ups with PGE and us. Once PGE scheduled the wiring upgrade (after 3 months), Freon's team was prompt and did a very clean install including all internal wiring and drainage work. They ensured city inspection was scheduled promptly and addressed all city concerns for a quick approval. I have not dealt with a more professional and competent crew in this area in a very long time. Would love to do business with them again.![]()

I usually doubt perfect 5-star ratings, but Freon completely earned theirs. My AC/heater combo unit broke, and every other company told me I needed a total replacement, quoting me between $9k and $12k. Freon came out to inspect it, and later that day, they gave me a quote for just $3,000 to repair it. I signed the contract that night, and they were back to do the work just 5 days later on June 19th. The tech replaced the compressor to get it running, but didn't stop there. He thoroughly tested the system, caught a power issue, and replaced the compressor relay and expansion valve to ensure the unit wouldn't break down again. Outstanding service. I'm finally set for the summer and winter. They deserve every single star!![]()

HVAC repair vs. replacement depends on equipment condition, repair history, and how well your home stays comfortable. A new unit may make sense after frequent repairs or a major failure.
HVAC system replacement costs in San Francisco vary with the equipment, system size, number of zones, ductwork, electrical work, permit requirements, and site access. Heat pumps commonly cost about $5,000–$16,000 to install locally. Ductless mini-splits generally range from $2,000 to $10,500. Multi-zone configurations, new ductwork, electrical upgrades, and difficult installations raise the total.
A single-zone ductless project typically takes 1 day, while multi-zone systems often take 1–3 days. Replacing a central HVAC system with usable existing ductwork typically takes 1–2 days. New ductwork, electrical upgrades, or permit requirements may add time.
Not always. If your existing ducts are the right size, sealed well, and in good shape, we may be able to keep them. If not, we’ll explain what needs to be changed or replaced.
Possibly. Before installation, we check whether your electrical panel can handle the new equipment. If it can’t, we’ll explain what needs to be upgraded.
Sometimes. A partial HVAC replacement is possible only when the new and existing equipment are compatible, so we’ll recommend the option that best supports performance, efficiency, and warranty coverage.
