Your Home Is Not Heating Properly
Insufficient or uneven heat can indicate a problem. Some rooms—or an entire level of your home—may feel noticeably cooler than others.
At NEON, we provide residential heating repair in San Francisco, CA, for homes with uneven heating, frequent cycling, thermostat problems, or a system that will not start. We are a licensed and insured HVAC contractor (CSLB #1156494).
Different failures often show up as the same symptom. A furnace that won’t start could have an ignition fault, a thermostat problem, or an electrical issue. Uneven heat or weak output usually points to airflow or ductwork. A clogged filter restricts airflow and makes the whole system work harder.
That’s why we diagnose before we recommend anything. Guessing from symptoms leads to replacing parts that weren’t broken.
Do you notice any of the following? You may need a professional assessment and heating repair.
Insufficient or uneven heat can indicate a problem. Some rooms—or an entire level of your home—may feel noticeably cooler than others.
Several problems can make a furnace blow cold air, including ignition, airflow, and thermostat issues. A technician has to test the system to find which one before any part is replaced.
A faulty thermostat, restricted airflow, or another control-related issue may be involved, but the system needs to be inspected before the cause is identified.
Bangs, pops, and grinding can mean it is time for a professional assessment. A sound alone does not identify the failed part, so the technician inspects the whole system first.
Starting issues may involve the electrical connection, thermostat, ignition system, blower motor, or another component.
Serving the Bay Area since 2023, we repair furnaces, heat pumps, and other heating systems and handle related electrical issues.
We explain the diagnosis, provide upfront pricing, and help you decide whether to repair or replace your system.
Request service online or by phone, including after hours. We’ll arrange the next available technician visit.

Every heating repair at NEON starts with finding the actual problem, not with replacing parts based on symptoms alone.
We ask what you have noticed, when the problem occurs, and how the system has been operating. This information helps guide the diagnosis.
The technician assesses the thermostat, airflow, electrical components, and overall system operation. For gas-powered equipment, this may also include the gas connection and venting.
Our technician explains what your heating system repair entails. We explain what was found, which options are appropriate, and what each option involves before you decide.
Once you approve the work, the technician completes it using the necessary replacement parts or service procedures. If a part must be ordered, a follow-up visit may be required.
We run a full test of your system to verify the repair was successful.
Repair makes sense when the system is generally sound and the problem is limited. Heating replacement deserves a closer look when problems keep returning.

Our experience with Freon HVAC has been exceptional for a full panel upgrade to 200 amps and installation of a new Mitsubishi mini-split system in an old house. We took quotes from 4 different top rated hvac providers in the San Jose area, before deciding to go with Freon. I appreciated the honesty and detailed analysis of our needs by Slava when he first showed up to do an estimate. He asked a ton of questions, checked the house for existing setup, wiring, possibilities, and discussed multiple possibilities including ducted, gas, hybrid, and heat pump only. Once we decided to go with a specific type of configuration, he gave us multiple options. Their pricing was competitive and while it took forever for PGE to get to the wiring/transformer upgrade, Freon's team worked with them patiently to meet our needs. Special thanks to Jessica for regular follow ups with PGE and us. Once PGE scheduled the wiring upgrade (after 3 months), Freon's team was prompt and did a very clean install including all internal wiring and drainage work. They ensured city inspection was scheduled promptly and addressed all city concerns for a quick approval. I have not dealt with a more professional and competent crew in this area in a very long time. Would love to do business with them again.![]()

I usually doubt perfect 5-star ratings, but Freon completely earned theirs. My AC/heater combo unit broke, and every other company told me I needed a total replacement, quoting me between $9k and $12k. Freon came out to inspect it, and later that day, they gave me a quote for just $3,000 to repair it. I signed the contract that night, and they were back to do the work just 5 days later on June 19th. The tech replaced the compressor to get it running, but didn't stop there. He thoroughly tested the system, caught a power issue, and replaced the compressor relay and expansion valve to ensure the unit wouldn't break down again. Outstanding service. I'm finally set for the summer and winter. They deserve every single star!![]()

We provide residential heating repair services in San Francisco and the following Bay Area communities:

If your system is not keeping the house warm, NEON can assess it and explain your options before any work is approved. We provide heating repair services in San Francisco, covering furnace ignition, thermostat, airflow, and electrical issues. For residential repair, our technicians start with a full diagnosis and base every recommendation on your existing equipment. The $59 diagnostic visit is credited toward the repair if you go ahead, and you get the price before any work begins.
Inconsistent temperatures, short cycling, weak airflow, and strange noises are all issues that warrant an assessment. These symptoms have several possible causes, so a technician needs to diagnose the actual problem first. Addressing issues early may help avoid a more involved repair later.
Failing components can cause one room to be cooler than another. Residential heating repair identifies these causes, which may be due to thermostat placement, ductwork issues or airflow restrictions. You may also have an undersized unit that lacks the power to heat your house properly.
A full diagnosis is necessary because you may have issues with your ignition system, electric or gas supply, or a faulty safety switch. We’ll perform a full professional evaluation to determine the cause and recommend the best way to fix it.
Home heating repair is recommended when the unit is still in relatively good condition. If multiple components are failing and service calls are becoming more frequent, a new system may make more sense. We’ll review the options after the diagnostic.
The cost of heating repair services averages from $178 to $866, and the average is around $504. The price depends on which part failed, how easy the equipment is to reach, and whether a part needs to be ordered. NEON’s diagnostic visit is $59 and is credited toward an approved repair. You’ll get the repair price before any work begins.
Most repairs take one to four hours. A simple fix can take about an hour, while a blower motor job may take two to four. If a part has to be ordered, we finish the job on a follow-up visit.
